Lauren Brown
Lauren Brown is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has worked with the Psychological services group for the past 7 years. She specializes in Critical Incident Stress Management as well as providing individual and family therapy, specifically working with the children and families of law enforcement officers. She holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Saint Mary’s College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice from California State University, Chico. 

Lauren is also an experienced instructor on a variety of prevention topics related to youth and families surrounding anxiety, resiliency, and communication strategies.

Lauren approaches law enforcement family counseling through a unique lens of personal experience, both from growing up the daughter of a police officer and working full time for a Bay Area Police Department in the Youth Services Division. She provides therapy from a solution-focus standpoint, utilizing strategies based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She believes that youth are inherently resilient and focuses on good communication and hands-on, practical tools and strategies that families in crisis can implement right away.
